With family reunions, feasts fit for a King, and even a spot of Greek dancing, it was a busy Coronation weekend at Healthcare Management Solutions-managed homes around the United Kingdom.
It was a true team effort encompassing resident craft sessions, care and domestic teams decorating lounges, and maintenance staff braving the British weather to put up bunting. As a result, our care homes were party-ready for the start of the Coronation weekend.
A sincere thank you to everyone involved in ensuring the people we support were able to celebrate this historic occasion in style.
Here is a brief round-up from just a few of our homes:
Aspen Grange
An afternoon of fun followed a group showing of the Coronation ceremony at Aspen Grange in Braintree. Crowns, a regal balloon arch and a cardboard cutout of King Charles III ensured that there were plenty of laughs!
Buttermere House
The team at Buttermere House in Broadbridge Heath gave the home a Royal makeover with red, white and blue balloons and Union Jack hats and flags. It was the perfect setting for watching the TV coverage and celebrating with a delicious afternoon tea.
Cranford
Following an official cake delivery from the Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeen and a morning in the beauty salon, the residents of Cranford kicked off their Coronation weekend with a disco on Friday evening. On Coronation day, residents’ loved ones arrived for a party where they all watched history being made together.
Coniston Court
The residents of Coniston Court near Uckfield kicked off their Coronation weekend with a celebration lunch at Maresfield Village Hall on Friday. Roast beef, strawberries with cream and a glass of sherry to toast the new King were on the menu, followed by live entertainment, dancing and a raffle.
Featherton House
In true Featherton House style, the home went to town with the Union Jack decorations in their conservatory dining room. Residents enjoyed a royal buffet with bubbly and live music from a local performer.
Linden House
Linden House in Epsom hosted a right Royal celebration for the home’s residents and their loved ones. Together they toasted the new King and Queen with some bubbly and a delicious afternoon tea, not to mention a good old sing-song too!
Old Raven House
The stunning timber beams of Old Raven House in Hampshire were dressed with Union Jack bunting for a celebration lunch in the historic part of the house. For many of the home’s residents, this was their second coronation. For a few, who remember the coronation of George VI in 1937, it was their third!
Ty Hafod
It was a family affair at Ty Hafod near Cardiff, as residents’ loved ones joined them for an afternoon tea celebration that spanned the generations.
Wren House
At the historic Wren House in Warminster, local florist Moonraker and Rose provided stunning flowers to add to the home’s decorations. Enjoying better weather than that of the Coronation day, the home’s residents, relatives and neighbours celebrated with a feast in a marquee in the garden. The highlight of the afternoon was a spot of Greek dancing courtesy of Yanis, a friend of Wren House.
