The team at Ullswater Cottage in Pease Pottage are thrilled that their manager has achieved a finalist place for prestigious industry awards.
Vicky Taylor, home manager of Silverlake Care’s Ullswater Cottage is a finalist in the Social Care Nurse Award category at the Great British Care Awards South East.
The regional event takes place in Brighton on Friday 18th November and celebrates the very best in social care in the South East of England.
The winners of each category on the night will compete in the national Great British Care Awards final in Birmingham in early 2023.
A Lifelong Ambition
Becoming a nurse had been a lifelong ambition for Vicky. After raising three children, she returned to her dream by studying nursing at the University of Hertfordshire. Vicky qualified in 2013, graduating with a BSc in Adult Nursing.
Having worked in the NHS for several years at Stevenage and Surrey hospitals, Vicky made the move to social care in 2018 as a nurse in a nursing home. In recent years, Vicky’s career has evolved, with progression to deputy manager, then home manager at Ullswater Cottage, her current position.
With a lifelong passion for nursing, Vicky remains as hands-on as possible, leading and inspiring her dedicated nursing team.
Vicky said: “I wanted to be a nurse since I was 10 years old, having first encountered the profession on a hospital visit with a relative. I entered the profession later in life, having focussed on being a mum to my three children, so this nomination means a great deal to me.
“I’m very flattered for the recognition of a finalist place and that someone thinks I’m worthy of a nomination. It’s very exciting to think that the brilliant achievements of my colleagues in the care sector are being celebrated and that I get to celebrate alongside them!”
